Chitwan & the Terai in August
Still the monsoon. The landscape is intensely green, the rivers are wide and the grass is too tall to see over. Some lodges in Sauraha stay open with village walks, cycling and cultural programmes, but wildlife viewing is poor and many park roads are closed. The Mugling road can be cut by landslides. If you must travel, keep to towns and temples and allow spare days for delays.
