Private car or taxi · 25 – 35 min

From Patan Durbar Square or Jawalakhel, cars head south via Nakhu and the Bungamati road, passing brick factories, fields and new houses. Cars stop at the edge of the village, from where you walk into the lanes. A driver can wait while you walk to Khokana and meet you on the other side.

Local bus · ≈ 45 min

Buses and microbuses leave from Lagankhel bus park in Patan to Bungamati through the day. They are cheap and crowded, and stop near the village. Check the last return bus time with the conductor, as services thin out in the late afternoon.

Bicycle · ≈ 1 h

A popular half-day ride from Patan, about 8 km each way, partly on busy roads near the city and then quieter lanes through fields. Rent bikes in Patan or Thamel, or join a guided ride. Start early to avoid traffic and heat, and wear a helmet.
