Club Himalaya
The first resort hotel on the Nagarkot ridge, opened in 1996 on Windy Hill at about 2,175 m. Rooms open onto balconies facing the Himalaya, and an indoor pool, spa and terrace bar make it a comfortable base for sunrise and ridge walks.
Club Himalaya, now operated by ACE Hotels, opened in 1996 and was the first resort on the Nagarkot ridge. It sits on Windy Hill at around 2,175 m, facing north across the valleys to the Himalaya, so most rooms open onto a private balcony where you can watch sunrise without leaving your bed. On clear days the view runs from the Langtang range across Dorje Lakpa to Gaurishankar.
The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, useful on cold mornings, a spa, and a bar with an outdoor terrace and an indoor fireplace for winter evenings. Restaurants serve Nepali, Indian, Chinese and continental food. It is about 1.5 hours from Kathmandu by car, and a good start point for walks along the ridge or down to Changunarayan and Bhaktapur.
Why we use it

Questions
Do all rooms at Club Himalaya have mountain views?
Most rooms open onto a private balcony facing north towards the Himalaya, and that view is the hotel's main appeal. Visibility depends on weather: October to February mornings are clearest. Ask for a mountain-facing room when booking and confirm it on arrival.
How do I get to Club Himalaya Nagarkot?
By car, it takes about 1.5 hours from central Kathmandu via Bhaktapur, climbing the last 20 km through hairpin bends. Most guests use a private car or hotel transfer. Local buses from Bhaktapur reach Nagarkot, but you will need a short walk or taxi to the hotel.
Is it cold at Club Himalaya in winter?
Yes. At around 2,175 m, nights from November to February drop close to freezing and mornings are cold. Rooms are heated, and the indoor pool and fireplace bar help. Bring warm layers, a hat and gloves for sunrise on your balcony.
