Hotel Everest View
A Japanese-built hotel on the ridge above Syangboche at about 3,880 m, between Namche and Khumjung, with a terrace that looks straight up the valley to Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam. Most trekkers know it as the tea stop on their acclimatisation day.

Hotel Everest View was built in the 1970s by the Japanese hotelier Takashi Miyahara on a ridge above the Syangboche airstrip, an hour and a half above Namche on foot. The building is low and long, stone-faced so it sits into the hill, and every guest room faces the mountains. On a clear morning the terrace shows Everest above the Nuptse–Lhotse wall, with Ama Dablam to the right and Tengboche's ridge below. It celebrated its fiftieth year in 2025.
Most visitors come for an hour, not a night: it is the usual turning point of the acclimatisation hike from Namche, and a pot of tea on the terrace is part of the ritual. Sleeping here is another matter. At about 3,880 m it is too high for a first night for anyone arriving straight from Lukla, and we only book rooms for travellers who have already spent nights in Namche or who are walking back down. Ask us about pairing it with Khumjung and Kunde, both 30 minutes away.
Why we use it
- Every room faces the Everest, Lhotse and Ama Dablam skyline
- Thirty minutes on foot from Khumjung's school and gompa
- A classic tea stop on the Namche acclimatisation day
Questions
Can you see Everest from Hotel Everest View?
Yes, on a clear day. The terrace looks up the Dudh Koshi and Imja valleys to the top of Everest above the Nuptse–Lhotse ridge, with Ama Dablam and Thamserku nearer. Mornings from October to December give the most reliable views; by midday cloud often rises from the valleys. In monsoon months, June to September, the peaks can stay hidden for days.
Is it safe to sleep at Hotel Everest View?
It is safe if you arrive acclimatised. The hotel stands at about 3,880 m, roughly 450 m above Namche, so flying into Syangboche or Lukla and sleeping here the same week carries a real risk of altitude sickness. We book it only after at least two nights in Namche, or on the way down. Tell us about any heart or lung condition beforehand.
How long is the walk from Namche to Hotel Everest View?
About 1.5 to 2 hours up and 1 hour down, climbing some 450 m on a steep zigzag path past the Syangboche airstrip. It is the standard acclimatisation walk from Namche. Many people continue to Khumjung and Kunde villages and loop back to Namche the same day, a total of five to six hours at an easy pace.
