The Panchakoshi circuit of five holy sites
Follow the Panchakoshi pilgrimage around Dullu: Shirasthan, Nabhisthan, Dhuleshwar, Padukasthan and Tallo Dungeshwar, a circuit of flames, springs and old temples through the terraced hills of Dailekh.

The Panchakoshi links five holy places in a ring around Dullu. Shirasthan in Rawatkot and Nabhisthan in Gamaudi are fire shrines; Dhuleshwar in Badalamji is a 13th-century temple; Padukasthan holds 14th-century images; and Tallo Dungeshwar, or Sideshwar Mahadev, lies in Dungeshwar rural municipality. Pilgrims aim to visit all five.
By jeep and on foot the circuit takes one to two days. Between sites you pass terraced rice and maize fields, pine slopes, stone houses with slate roofs and villages where children run to see visitors. Each site has its own priest, rituals and small market of offerings on festival days.
We suggest two days with a night in Dullu, so you can walk parts of the route rather than spend all day in a vehicle. Go with a guide who knows the order of worship and can introduce you to priests. Carry water, snacks and small notes for offerings.

Shirasthan in Rawatkot, Nabhisthan in Gamaudi, Dhuleshwar in Badalamji and Padukasthan, all in Dullu municipality, and Tallo Dungeshwar, also called Sideshwar Mahadev, in Dungeshwar rural municipality. Together they form the Panchakoshi pilgrimage of Dailekh.

All year, but most come during Dashain in October, Chaite Dashain in spring and other Hindu festivals, when special pujas are held, especially at Dhuleshwar. Dates follow the lunar calendar; check current status before you travel.
