Fish Tail Lodge

A long-established lakeside hotel on the far shore of Phewa Lake near its southern end, reached by a short raft ferry across the water. Gardens, quiet and the reflection of Machhapuchhre are the draw, with Lakeside a few minutes away.

Fish Tail Lodge sits across a narrow stretch of water from the Phewa dam end of Lakeside, and guests cross on a flat raft pulled along a rope, a small ritual that separates the hotel from the street. The low buildings are set among lawns and trees by the water, and on clear mornings Machhapuchhre, the Fishtail peak that gives the lodge its name, appears above the far shore.

This is a hotel for staying put: breakfast by the lake, a book in the garden, an evening drink as the light goes off the mountains. Lakeside's cafes, boat stands and shops are a short ferry and walk away, and the Peace Pagoda trail and Davis Falls are close. Ask for a room facing the lake and the range.

Questions

How do you get to Fish Tail Lodge in Pokhara?

Fish Tail Lodge is on the far side of a narrow channel at the southern end of Phewa Lake, near the dam end of Lakeside. Guests cross on a rope-pulled raft ferry from the landing near the road, taking a few minutes. Staff help with luggage. Taxis from the airport drop you at the ferry landing.

Is Fish Tail Lodge close to Lakeside?

Yes. Once across the ferry, Lakeside's southern end with restaurants, shops and boat stands is a few minutes' walk, and central Lakeside is 15–20 minutes on foot or a short taxi. The ferry makes the hotel feel more secluded than its distance suggests. Check ferry hours if you plan late evenings out.

Can you see the mountains from Fish Tail Lodge?

On clear days, especially mornings from October to April, Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range are visible above the hills across Phewa Lake, often reflected in the water. Lake-facing rooms and the gardens have the best views. In the monsoon, June to September, cloud usually hides the peaks.
