Hotel Barahi

A long-running hotel on Lakeside in Pokhara, named after the lake goddess of Tal Barahi, close to Phewa's main boat stands. A practical, comfortable mid-range base for the city, trek starts and rest days.

Hotel Barahi stands in the heart of Lakeside, within a few minutes' walk of Barahi Ghat, where boats leave for the island temple of Tal Barahi that gives the hotel its name. Around it are the restaurants, bakeries, trekking agencies and gear shops that make Lakeside work as a base, and the lake path for evening walks.

It is the kind of hotel many travellers use twice in one trip: before a trek to sort permits and gear, and after it for a hot shower and a lake view. Ask for an upper-floor room on the side facing the mountains, as views depend on the room. Book early for October and November.

Questions

Where is Hotel Barahi in Pokhara?

Hotel Barahi is in central Lakeside, Pokhara, a short walk from Barahi Ghat and the boats to Tal Barahi temple. Restaurants, shops, trekking agencies and the lake path are all close by. It is about 15–20 minutes by taxi from Pokhara International Airport and the Tourist Bus Park.

Is Hotel Barahi good for trekkers?

Yes. Its central Lakeside location puts trekking agencies, permit offices, gear shops and cafes within walking distance, and many trekkers use it before and after Poon Hill, Mardi Himal or Annapurna Base Camp. Ask about storing extra luggage while you trek; most Lakeside hotels can do this.

Can you see Phewa Lake from Hotel Barahi?

The hotel is very close to the lake, and some upper-floor rooms and terraces have partial views of Phewa and, on clear days, the mountains. Views vary by room, so ask for a mountain or lake-facing room when booking. The lakeshore path is a minute or two's walk away.
